Yes, a rhinoplasty procedure is designed to correct aesthetic problems of the nose. In addition, rhinoplasty can correct:
- A nose that is too large for your face
- Bumps on the bridge of your nose
- Your nose is too wide for your face
- The tip of your nose curves downward
- The tip of your nose is enlarged
- Flaring nostrils
- Your nose is off-center or crooked
- A previous injury has made your nose asymmetrical with the rest of your face
You are an excellent candidate for rhinoplasty if you are in good overall health, you do not smoke, and your face has finished growing.
Rhinoplasty is usually an outpatient procedure performed under IV sedation or general anesthesia.
Dr. Jejurikar uses one of two techniques when performing nose surgery: open and closed rhinoplasty. At your consultation appointment you and Dr. Jejurikar will decide which of the two techniques is appropriate for your surgery. Either way, Dr. Jejurikar will gently lift the soft tissues covering the nose and sculpt the bone and cartilage into the desired shape, close the incision and apply a sterile dressing.
You may experience puffiness, an achy nose or a dull headache, some swelling and bruising, bleeding or stuffiness. Most patients feel like themselves within two or three days and return to work within about a week.
