Breast Augmentation 3D Imaging

The hardest part of breast augmentation is not the surgery. It is deciding what size to be. Photos of other women only go so far, because the same implant looks completely different on a narrow chest than on a wide one. That is why every breast augmentation consultation in my office includes 3D imaging: you see the implant on your own body, from every angle, before anything is decided.

How the 3D Consultation Works

1. A quick scan. After your exam, we photograph your torso with an iPad using the Crisalix system. It takes a minute and builds a 3D model of your chest that rotates 360 degrees.
2. Try on implants. I load real implants from the manufacturers’ catalogs onto your model, including the Motiva styles I use most, and we compare volumes, profiles and placements side by side.
3. See it in context. Front, oblique and profile views, and a virtual wardrobe so you can see how the result reads in a top or a swimsuit, not just in the mirror.
4. Take it home. You leave with your simulations so you can look again when the room is quiet and the decision is yours.

How I Help You Choose a Size

Patients usually arrive with a cup size in mind. I ask them to set it aside. Cup sizes vary by brand and say nothing about the shape of your chest. Instead I measure the width of your breast, because an implant that is wider than your natural breast creates the “stuck on” look everyone is trying to avoid. That measurement gives us a range of implants that will fit your frame. Within that range, profile decides how much the breast projects forward, and 3D imaging settles the last question: which of these looks like you, only fuller.

What Imaging Can and Cannot Predict

Crisalix is very good at shape, proportion and the difference between one size and the next. It is less exact about how your skin and tissue will soften around the implant over the first few months, so I tell every patient the same thing: treat the simulation as a very good preview, not a photograph of the future. The before and after photos above are the best check on how close the two actually are.

3D Imaging FAQs

Is there a separate charge for 3D imaging? No. It is included in your breast augmentation consultation.

Can I do it before I come in? The scan is done in the office, because it is tied to your exam and measurements. Both happen at the same visit.

How accurate is it? Very accurate for shape and relative size. Final softness and settling take a few months and are best judged from real patient photos like the ones above.

Do you keep my images? Your scans are stored securely in your record and are never shared without your permission.

What if I cannot decide between two sizes? That happens often, and the gap is usually 30 to 50 cc. I will give you my recommendation based on your measurements and what you have told me you want. The final choice is always yours.

Dr. Sam is straightforward and knowledgeable.I  did my research and please go research about him before going for your first visit. I was at peace going through this journey because I knew I was in good hands He does not sell you a fantasy. He tells you what he can do and what he will not overdo.
He is not a “cosmetic clinic” doctor with a short course. He completed a long U.S. plastic-surgery residency, added a cosmetic fellowship, passed the plastic-surgery board.

I came in wanting an extended abdominoplasty, muscle repair, and VASER liposuction of the abdomen, flanks, and back. I also did bilateral breast augmentation with Motiva Ergonomix (small, mini profile, about 245–255 cc) and fat grafting to my hip dips.  He explained the plan clearly: tighten the separated muscle, take the extra skin, shape the waist and back, keep my natural butt, and only put a modest amount of fat in the dips so it would have a better chance to survive. He said he did not do too much fat on purpose. That honesty mattered to me.
Before surgery the office was organized. Medications were sent to my pharmacy with clear instructions — . They also recommended hyperbaric oxygen to help the fat grafts snd overall healing. He answered questions about implants vs fat in the breasts, sensation, and what was realistic at my size (5'9", about 205 lbs, size 12). He did not promise I would wake up a different person.
Surgery day was a long day, but the team knew the plan. Spend one night at hotel. Nurses were incredibly.  I was sore, tight, and tired, which he had already prepared me for. I still cannot stand fully straight, I have drains, I wear the binder and board, and I have numb patches on my belly and back. One side of my back is more sore and numb.  I went home the next day feeling ready for my healing journey.  Few days a little leak around the drain after using the bathroom happened. He and the staff treat that as expected if it is only a little. They took about 8 lbs of skin and fat. My scale went up to 207–208 from swelling. That scared me until I understood it was fluid, not failure.
I am only about a week and a half out, so this is not a final-result review. The waist is still swollen. The implants sit high. The hip fill looks full because of swelling plus the fat they placed. I know the real shape takes months. What I can say now is that he was direct, he did the operation we agreed on, and he did not push extra procedures I did not need.
If you want a doctor who talks straight, knows mommy-makeover surgery, and will keep a fat transfer conservative so it lasts, Dr. Sam is a good choice. I love his staffs This is the best gift I could give me. Love it .

Finding the right plastic surgeon is not always easy, and I’m sharing my experience in hopes that it may help others making this very personal decision.
