Liquid Facelift
If you’d like some of the benefits of a facelift without undergoing surgery, a “Liquid Facelift” may be the right choice for you. This is a nonsurgical alternative to facial cosmetic surgery, performed in the attempt to avoid surgery and the downtime associated with it. Dr. Jejurikar uses facial fillers to add volume to the face and to reduce wrinkles. He also uses Botox to soften wrinkles associated with facial expression. The goal of this procedure is to restore a youthful fullness to your face such as by enhancing its curves and contours, while softening facial creases and wrinkles, all why avoiding significant downtime.
So how exactly is this accomplished? One of the most common signs of facial aging is loss of volume from the mid face and lower eyelids. Dr. Jejurikar commonly uses Radiesse (calcium hydroxyapatite, one the heaviest available fillers), which are a hyaluronic acid based fillers. All of these agents are FDA approved and are great for restoring the mid facial volume while providing a small lift of the lower face.
The lower eyelid tear troughs (dark circles) are treated with finer hyaluronic acid fillers. Dr. Jejurikar uses a blunt microcannula to inject these regions, to minimize the risks of bruising and lumpiness. Properly blended with midface, lower eyelid filler injections can dramatically reduce the appearance of being tired.
Many patients also get treatment of the marionette lines (nasolabial folds) with Juvederm and Radiesse. These injections soften the lines around the mouth, one of the first signs of facial aging. In combination with cheek enhancement, this step enhances the ultimate liquid facelift.
Botox injections are a great step to reduce the visible signs of aging of the upper one third of the face. Transverse forehead wrinkles, frown lines between the eye brows, and smile lines around the eyes (crow’s feet) can all be eliminated for 3-4 months with Botox.
Is a “liquid facelift” the equivalent of a surgical facelift? No, it’s not. That being said, a liquid facelift can provide dramatic results, be done safely and quickly in an office setting with minimal associated down time.
