Closed Rhinoplasty for Correction of Prominent Nasal Hump Facial Cosmetic Surgeon, Dr. Sam Jejurikar, with Offices in Dallas and Plano, TX

Rhinoplasty is one of the most popular cosmetic surgical procedures performed for men and women. One of the most common complaints patients have is of a bump on the top of the nose. This is known as a dorsal hump.

When the dorsal hump is the only cosmetic concern, closed rhinoplasty can be easily performed to correct this. In this form of rhinoplasty, incisions are made only within the nostrils. This means no visible scars and less postoperative swelling. A fine instrument is used to shave the excess cartilage and bone of the nose, leading to a more pleasing profile and nasal appearance.

Should you have any questions regarding rhinoplasty or any other facial cosmetic procedure, do not hesitate to contact Dr. Jejurikar at 214-827-2814.

Upper Lid Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Lift) – Dr. Sam Jejurikar at the Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute

Upper lid blepharoplasty, otherwise known as upper eyelid lift, is one of the most popular facial surgical procedures performed by Dr. Jejurikar. When patients complain that their eyes make them look tired, an upper lid blepharoplasty may be used to create a more refreshed look. An upper eyelid blepharoplasty involves removing skin, as well as oftentimes muscle and fat, from the upper eyelid to eliminate heavy and sagging skin.

An important thing to determine is whether or not the sagging skin of the upper eyelid is truly the result of extra skin of the upper eyelid, or if it is the result of a sagging brow. Sometimes, droopy brows can create a heavy and tired appearance of the upper eyelids. If elevation of the brow helps correct the tired appearance, it is very possible that a brow lift may be necessary, either by itself or in combination with an upper eyelid lift.

Upper eyelid lift alone is a relatively straight forward procedure with minimal pain. It is very common for patients to have significant bruising and swelling for 7-14 days after the procedure. The utilization of over-the-counter supplements to reduce bruising can sometimes reduce this, as can the use of camouflage makeup. The operation can be performed under general anesthesia or under local anesthesia, depending on the extensiveness of the procedure and patient preference.

An Alternative To Brow Lift Surgery – Botox and Dysport at the Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute

Brow lifts can be a very rewarding procedure for many patients. Not only can the brow position be reshaped, but prominent furrows of the central forehead (frown lines) can be improved for many patients. Although the final results can be quite pleasing, the operation does have significant down time associated with it, and many patients simply do not have the time to recover from it.

Treatment with either Botox or Dysport can be used as a chemical brow lift in many cases. Not only can this be used to reduce wrinkles of the central forehead, as well as frown lines, but the outer portion of the brow can also be elevated mildly with Botox. This can lead to a more youthful appearance around the brows and eyes, and avoid the need for aggressive surgery.

The only real downside to these treatments is that they must be repeated every 3-4 months. However, the procedure can generally be performed relatively quickly, in 10-15 minutes.

Should you have any questions regarding brow lift, Botox, or Dysport treatment at the Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute, do not hesitate to contact Dr. Jejurikar at 214-827-2814.

Designing the Optimal Tummy Tuck Incision in Dallas, TX – Dr. Jejurikar, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon.

Virtually no patient comes to the office requesting a long scar. In fact, this is the major draw back to abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) surgery for most patients.

Although the scar cannot be eliminated with this operation, Dr. Jejurikar’s goal is to place it in as cosmetically acceptable position as possible. He asks his patients to wear either a bathing suit bottom or an undergarment they would like to be able to wear after surgery, and makes every attempt to design the incision to fall in this location. In addition, he attempts to close the scar as meticulously as possible, leading to as fine a scar as possible. Even with this, in some cases, the scars heal thicker and wider than desired. In these cases, topical medications or corticosteroid injections may be needed to improve the scar. In rare cases, a scar revision in which the scar is excised is required. In some patients, scarring must be treated aggressively for several months to 2 years after the procedure.

Should you have any questions regarding abdominoplasty, the location of the incisions, or scarring, please do not hesitate to contact Dr. Jejurikar at 214-827-2814.

Nipple Sensation and Breast Augmentation – Dr. Sam Jejurikar, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in Dallas, TX

Many patients complain of changes in nipple and breast sensation immediately after breast augmentation.  It is common for patients to complain that the breasts have a dull sensation, and, in rare situations, are hypersensitive.

The good news is that the changes in sensation, in most cases, are temporary.  It can take several months for the changes in sensation to resolve, but they do almost always improve.  There is a slightly greater chance of nipple numbness with an incision around the areola (pigmented skin surrounding the nipple) than with other incisions.

Should you have any questions regarding this or breast implant surgery, do not hesitate to contact Dr. Jejurikar’s office at 214-827-2814.

Compressive Garments After Liposuction – Are they Necessary? Dr. Sam Jejurikar at the Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute

After virtually all types of liposuction, patients are asked to wear compression garments.  The rationale for this is that it helps the swelling improve faster after surgery, thereby allowing realization of the postoperative result faster.  In addition, in many areas of the body, compressive garments actually help the skin’s natural elastic properties work better, and can actually promote better skin re-contouring.  This is particularly true in the chin and arms.

Most patients are more than anxious to get out of their compressive garment, as they complain about getting hot and sweaty, particularly during the summer months.  Nonetheless, failure to wear the compressive garments can affect the final postoperative results adversely.

Should you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact Dr. Jejurikar at 214-827-2814.

Does Liposuction of the Arms Really Work? Dr. Sam Jejurikar at the Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute

Many patients complain about fat upper arms.  It makes clothing choices difficult, particularly when contemplating wearing anything sleeveless.  Many patients come in wishing to know which contouring procedure is best to create a youthful and slim arm.

It is important to differentiate between extra skin and extra fat of the upper arms.  Many arms have a selective excess of fat, and these patients are excellent candidates for liposuction alone.  Through very small incisions in the underarm and elbow region, the arm can be effectively contoured, and, with utilization of postoperative compression garments, very pleasing results can be noticed just a few weeks after the procedure.

Other patients, particularly those that have lost large amounts of weight, tend to have extra skin.  They need some type of additional procedure to remove the extra skin, known as a brachioplasty.  In some versions of this operation, incisions can be limited to just the underarm area.  In the most complete version of this procedure, an incision is made down the length of the arm, usually along the inner service.

Dr. Jejurikar’s goal is to minimize scarring while providing patients with the best postoperative result.

Should you like more information regarding liposuction or upper arm contouring, please do not hesitate to contact Dr. Jejurikar’s office at 214-827-2814.
