Facial Surgery FAQs
Below are some frequently asked questions about facial procedures performed at the Dallas Plastic Plastic Surgery Institute.
How old is too old for a facelift?
The average age of a facelift patient is 40 years old, however, we do see patients who are substantially younger and older for facelift procedures.
What areas does a facelift target?
A facelift targets the area of the face that contains the cheeks, chin, and jawline.
What is an SMAS facelift?
As we age, the tissues responsible for facial expression, the SMAS (Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System) tissues become lax and begin to sag, creating the jowls along the jawline and deepen the creases that form between the corners of our mouth and the sides of our noses. An SMAS facelift procedure effectively corrects jowls, hollow cheeks and deep creases, restoring a more youthful look and appearance. An SMAS facelift is idea for those who are aged 50 or over.
What is Blepharoplasty?
Cosmetic eyelid surgery, known as blepharoplasty, rejuvenates the upper and/or lower eyelids and surrounding areas. By improving loose skin, fatty deposits, bags under the eyes and eyelid droopiness, blepharoplasty will help you look more rested and youthful.
Am I a candidate for eyelid surgery?
If you are in overall good health, have droopy or baggy eyelids, and have realistic expectations for the results, then you may be a candidate for eye lid surgery.
