Patients often want to know just how long they can expect the results of their Brazilian Butt Lift to last. It’s a common misconception among patients that the results will not last and that they are doomed to repeat buttock augmentation surgery in the future.

It’s important to understand that Brazilian Butt Lift involves autologous fat transfer, or transplanting fat from one location in the body to another. Because micro-droplets of fat are transferred, the body develops a new blood supply to the fat that survives the transfer. This means that the fat that is transferred eventually behaves like normal fat that exists elsewhere in the body. When you gain weight, you can do so in your buttock, and the same holds true if you were to lose weight.

Some of the fat invariably does not survive the transfer to the buttocks. Also, the butt swells initially after Brazilian Butt Lift, and, as a result, gives the appearance of diminishing in size after surgery. Still, once a patient reaches a time period somewhere between 6 and 12 weeks after surgery, assuming they remain at a constant height and weight, they can expect the results of their buttock augmentation with fat to remain constant for the duration of their life.
